Carpark for the New Zealand Refining Company
When the New Zealand Refining Company (NZRC) needed a new carpark at their Marsden Point facility to be constructed in a hurry, they selected United Civil Construction for the job. The nature of the site required that the Contractor used have not only the resources and the experience needed to complete the work, but also the workplace health and safety systems that are an essential prerequisite to working in the highly hazardous environs of an oil refinery.
United Civil makes no compromise when it comes to safety and is constantly reviewing its work practices and all its projects to ensure the wellbeing of our employees and others. We have extensive experience in working on hazardous industrial sites including completing multi-million dollar projects for Northport at their deep water port facility at Marsden Point and for Carter Holt Harvey both at their LVL plant in Ruakaka and their Woodproducts sawmill in Whangarei.
For these carpark construction works, our company’s Compliance Manager compiled a Project Specific Health and Safety Plan (PSHSP) that incorporated various well established procedures and protocols developed by the NZRC, for which stringent compliance with such was critical. With the assistance of the United Civil Project Manager, the Compliance Manager audited the works on a regular and frequent basis to ensure conformance with the PSHSP and maintained close contact with the client to ensure that their expectations of Contractor performance were being met at all times.
Oh, and as for the carpark.......? It was finished on time and budget, in accordance with specifications and in full compliance with the clients health and safety protocols, and most importantly, without incident.
